Nissan Sentra Overview
At the first glance, you can tell that the Nissan Sentra takes its modernistic and bold design cues from its elder siblings. This entry-level sedan is sculpted to look like a sports car and it manages to look like one inside-out. It is fitted with an independent strut suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. The braking duties are handled by vented disc brakes on the front wheels and solid disc brakes on the rear wheels. Nissan Sentra comes with dual-pinion electric power steering with an energy-absorbing steering column. It features aluminium alloy wheels and it also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system like the Nissan Maxima. This sedan can comfortably accommodate 5 passengers and it offers a boot space of 405 litres.
The Nissan Sentra is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder, DOHC engine that feels quite underpowered. It produces 149 hp of max power at 6,000 rpm and 197.9 Nm of max torque at 4,000 rpm. The transmission duties are taken care of by an Xtronic CVT gearbox. It is based on a front-wheel drivetrain and it does not get an all-wheel drive option like its rivals. The sedan delivers a fuel economy in the range of 12-16 kmpl and it has a top speed of nearly 200 kmph. Nissan Sentra comes with intelligent cruise control, active ride control, intelligent engine braking, and hill start assist. It gets a sport-cloth trimmed seat with contrast orange stitching that adds a sporty appeal to its cabin.
Nissan Sentra Price in India and Launch Date
Nissan is slowly emerging in the Indian market and the brand might consider launching a sedan to tap into this low-competition segment. The Sentra looks like a perfect model for Nissan to set foot in this segment in India. However, as of now, the brand has not revealed any information about the launch possibility of this sean in the Indian market. The Nissan Sentra price in India is expected to start at Rs 16.35 Lakh for the base model and it will go up to Rs 19.17 model for the top-end model. It will compete against the Volkswagen Virtus and Honda City in the Indian market.
Our Verdict on the Nissan Sentra
For an entry-level sedan, the Sentra look quite good due to its bold and modern design inspired by its siblings. The four-cylinder engine under the hood feels underpowered but it delivers decent performance. Its fuel economy is in line with its major rivals and it offers a comfortable ride. This sedan comes with a spacious cabin that is packed with a good amount of convenience and comfort features. A well-equipped standard safety and driver assistance package makes the Nissan Senta even more desirable considering its price tag.
