Engine, Gearbox, and Performance

A 155.2cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine powers the latest version of this bike. Its powertrain uses an electronic fuel injection system and a liquid cooling system as seen on most of modern bikes these days. It comes mated to a 6-speed transmission that allows the rider to test the top-end grunt of this supersport. Taro claims a top speed of 140 kmph for the GP-1 V3 which makes it one of the fastest 150cc bikes in the market. Its performance-oriented engine manages to extract a decent fuel economy of up to 40 kmpl.

Suspension and Brakes

The Taro GP-1 V3 is fitted with telescopic forks at the front end and a mono-shock absorber is linked to its swingarm at the rear end. The brand has skipped the inverted fork set-up to keep its price in check. The braking duties on the Taro GP-1 V3 are handled by dual 300 mm disc brakes on the front wheel and a single 240 mm disc brake on the rear wheel. To be honest twin front disc brakes on a 150cc bike are completely unnecessary. This supersport comes fitted with a dual-channel anti-lock braking system like the Apache 220 that aids in safe braking.

It is built around a compact steel trellis frame and that helps this supersport achieve a very light kerb weight. It has a wheelbase of 1,422 mm and its total length is 2,050 mm. The Taro GP-1 V3 has a kerb weight of only 150 kg which is very impressive considering its fully-faired body design. It has a fuel tank capacity of 13.5 litres which allows this supersport bike to offer a long riding range. The seat height of the Taro GP-1 V3 is 780 mm making it accessible to a wide range of riders. surprisingly this sports bike offers a high ground clearance of 180 mm.

Wheels and Tyres

The Taro GP-1 V3 comes fitted with 17-inch front and rear alloy wheels. It gets a unique 5-spoke alloy wheel pattern that adds charm to its sporty design. Its rolls on wide and tubeless radial tyres which provide outstanding grip on the tarmac. The GP-1 V3 front tyre size is 110/70-17 and its rear tyre size is 150/70-17.

Features

Taro has equipped this supersport bike with a lot of modern features and gizmos. The Taro GP-1 V3 features a TFT colour instrument panel that is very well laid out and easy to read. Its instrument cluster shows a tachometer, speedometer, engine temperature, fuel gauge, odometer, time, and battery charge. It also comes with a gear position indicator. It comes with a sporty step-up seat and a full LED lighting system. Although the Taro GP-1 V3 does get some features like a slipper clutch, riding modes, and a quick shifter which is offered by its competitors.

Taro GP-1 V3 Price in India and Launch Date

Taro Moto is a new brand and it currently operates in limited Asian markets only. As the brand will expand its operations in future, it may also consider entering the Indian market considering the huge opportunity in the entry-level sports bikes segment. Taro has not yet officially revealed any future plans to launch any bike in the Indian market. We expect the GP-1 V3 to launch in India soon as the brand is planning to enter more Asian markets soon. The Taro GP-1 V3 price in India is anticipated to be around Rs 1.70 Lakh.

Our Verdict on the Taro GP-1 V3

The GP-1 V3 comes with an updated design and a new bigger & more powerful engine is just icing on the cake. It continues to look breathtaking and it also gets some exciting new paint schemes. Its fuel-injected powertrain now produces 19 bhp of peak power. This supersport manages to offer a perfect blend of performance and fuel economy. It comes with a host of features, but we would have loved to see this bike boasting equipment like USD forks & a slipper clutch. The Taro GP-1 looks outstanding and it offers spectacular performance.
