Yamaha YZF-R4 Overview
Design and Styling
Just like its R-series siblings, the new Yamaha YZF-R4 will come with a radical M1-inspired design. It will feature a lightweight full-faring design with aluminium lower panels. At the front, it will boast sleek LED headlights and a central air duct, that will give it a tempting front-end look. The slim and sharp design of this supersport will help it slice through the air smoothly and effectively. The YZF-R4 will be available in three colour schemes and it might as well get a special MotoGP edition.
Engine, Gearbox, and Performance
The powertrain on the Yamaha YZF-R4 will be a 400cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled unit with 4 valves per cylinder. It will be using a modern downdraft induction fuel injection system which will help it deliver smooth performance and good fuel economy. The new DOHC motor on this supersport will be designed to provide quick-revving performance & efficiency at higher rev bands. We expect the Yamaha YZF-R4 to churn out at least 51 hp peak power and 36 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed transmission but it will miss out on a quick shifter like its rivals. The assist and slipper clutch will provide smooth downshifts and improved engine braking.
Chassis, Suspension, and Brakes
The Yamaha YZF-R4 will be constructed on a high-strength steel diamond-type frame with an aluminium swing arm. It will be equipped with inverted front forks that will provide amazing front-end feedback and control. At the rear end, it will utilize a linked-type monocross suspension with an adjustable spring preload. Braking duties on the Yamaha YZF-R4 will be taken care of by hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels. It will also get a dual-channel anti-lock braking system like the new Kawasaki Ninja 200. This supersport will come with 17-inch cast aluminium wheels with radial tubeless tyres.
Features
This supersport will be seen sporting modern features and gizmos to stay in the competition. Yamaha YZF-R4 will feature a fully digital LCD instrument cluster that will present all the information to riders in easy to read manner. Its dashboard will also display gear position, real-time fuel economy, engine temperature, and a clock. It will get an LED headlight, LED taillight, and LED turn signals. The low-profile fuel tank design and compact clip-on handlebar of the Yamaha YZF-R4 will provide the rider with a sporty riding posture. It will come with a compact exhaust system with a short muffler design that will help in mass centralization.
